Más que yo. Más que la vida. Más que todo. Jesucristo.

Christian Mission to Perú

Our goal: To see a normally-functioning Quechuan church established in Chaviña. This means a church which does:

  • Prayer

    • Matthew 21:21 “If ye have faith, ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.”
    • Jesus taught the power of prayer through the above observation. Moving mountains is obviously impossible, so we may conclude that the only way to accomplish the impossible is through God’s power.
    • John 14:13 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”
    • By the phrase, “in my name”, the limitation which Jesus noted with regard to God’s positive response to our prayers is that He must act consistently with His character. So, we may conclude that our petitions must be within His will.
    • Luke 11:9 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
    • The principle of importunity in prayer is vital to remind us that we must continue to seek God’s face and seek His will in all that we do. So, we may conclude that we must never forsake prayer.
    • To summarize, our foundational strategy and our core activity is prayer. Prayer is our means of aligning with God’s will and God’s way.
  • Presence

“They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” The truth of this old saw is indisputable. You and I resent unfamiliar salesmen coming to our door with a product we don’t think we need, but we listen much more readily to a rusted friend’s recommendation. Not surprisingly, the Ayacucho Quechua are more receptive to the Gospel message when presented by a friend.

Romans 10:17 “So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Not much explanation is needed. Just one more verse: John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

  • Process

We fail if we don’t share the Gospel and see people saved. We fall short of obedience if we don’t disciple those who come to know Christ. And we hinder the Holy Spirit’s work if we neglect the formation of healthy, functioning churches. The process is only completed when the Ayacucho Quechua church which God will establish is making disciples and planting other churches. It is an impossible task which only God can do.
